Capsule review: Lou Bond - Lou Bond (1974)

Lou Bond's only album never belonged on Stax, who couldn't make sense of his patchouli scented Bill Withers / Curtis Mayfield hybrid. Relaxed grooves, amply orchestrated, well meaning lyrics of public and private activism, possible insights gained from nights on the bong. 11 minutes of 'To the establishment''s meandering soliloquies and this pillar of the community would take 11 more.
