Capsule review: Evan Dando - Live at the Brattle theatre / Griffith sunset (2002)

Penance for unspeakable crimes during the Britpop era, Dando hit the solo acoustic trail and honours Americana's hallowed ancestors. The live show is charming. Not many singers can wring the pathos from lines like 'I can't go away with you on a rock climbing weekend / What if something's on tv and its never shown again' ('The outdoor type'). Otherwise blurred, lazy covers from Fred Neil to Tim Hardin.
